Film music in concert
In June "Kammerchor Wernigerode" performed three film music cues live in concert under the direction of choirmaster Jean-Philippe Apel.
I composed those tracks for a documentary about the choir by the directress Lydia Ramos.

Geben und Nehmen O.S.T.
The anticipated soundtrack for Andreas Hettmanczyk's film "Geben und Nehmen" is now available for your listening pleasure. Dive into a musical odyssey that delves into the depths of the human psyche and embarks on a journey of hope and reconciliation with its 15 captivating tracks.
This soundtrack complements the film's gripping narrative, which tells the story of a police officer who unwittingly entangles himself in madness after passing seized drugs to a desperate junkie. Fusing orchestral and electronic elements, the music weaves together the contrasting perspectives of the film's two protagonists, offering a compelling and evolving sonic experience.

Ambiguous Dance
"Ambiguous Dance" is a small EP for solo violin and string quartet that reflects the sometimes complicated features of an intimate love affair.
The album is opened by "Wedding Waltz", which draws the dance of a bride and groom on the solemn evening. It was interpreted by Tim Schmiedner on the violin.
The album's namesake piece "Ambiguous Dance" is meant to represent a flirtatious pair of lovers.
A plaintive solo violin passage is successively replaced by mysterious pizzicato sounds, energetic tango rhythms, and delightful harmonies.
Thanks to the wonderful team:
Violin I: Tim Schmiedner
Violin II: Lukas Döhler
Viola: Felicitas Bruckmann
Recording Engineer: Henning Jung
Composition, Edit and programmed Cello by me
Thanks also to Olga Shults for the Cover Artwork

Nuages
It was in the end of last year when I sat down at my piano and wrote "Nuages" on a calm evening.
For me, it describes this warm feeling of resonating memories that slowly pass like clouds in front of the inner eye. It could represent some nostalgic moments captured on old Polaroids, or just the beauty of time.
The piece was finally played by my friend and colleague Niels N. Wörheide in February on a “Wilh. Steinberg” Grand Piano.

Für Noel
On July 9th "Für Noel" released:
In the end of last year, I learned of the approaching birth of my nephew. I captured this intimate moment in a kind of lullaby, meant to evoke calm emotions and welcome Noel into our world.
For a natural sound of this piano piece, I chose Felix Rösch as performer, who recorded the track on a Feurich Upright piano in his studio in Berlin.

Auf der Suche EP
On April 9th another EP released:
“Auf der Suche“ contains two neo classical, minimal compositions for piano and strings.
Consisting of an archaic melody and a deep pedal tone "Barfuß auf dem Eise" tells the story of someone who finds himself on an endless hike through a cold, dreary landscape.
The second track “Auf der Suche" describes the general journey through life, giving a sense of hope with a little bit of melancholy.
Both tracks were recorded with the Northern Film Orchestra in Manchester. The Cover Art was made by Miroslav Radev. The short Spotify video was made by Nikolai Meierjohann.

Prandaj - music video
The track "Prandaj" featured Frank Chastenier at the piano - take a listen/ look
Working area - where everything started
Finally, the new album "Palimpsest" is released, on which I participated as a co-composer. The production of these eleven pieces in total means the world to me and It's always a great pleasure to think back to the long days of composing together with Eda and Henning, the spontaneous impulses and the moments of enthusiasm. We drank tea with honey, cooked and laughed - it was a wonderful time. Equally unforgettable are the wonderful recording days with a wide variety of musicians.
At so many points I was surprised by the richness of ideas of all the performers and the dynamic process of development in this pandemic situation. Listening to the pieces, I always feel an unexpected warmth and sense of togetherness, even though Corona sometimes made this difficult. Everything-for example, the gently breathing bandoneon, the richly colored percussion, the breathed trumpet, or the lovely strings-fits together to form a large, colorful mosaic, held together by the virtuoso vocal lines of Eda Zari.
I am happy to be a part of this collaborative production and grateful for the creative exchange with so many special people from Düsseldorf and around the world.
Thanks especially to Eda Zari (composition, vocals) and Henning Jung (composition, production, guitar, bass, vocals).
And an equally big thank you to the whole team:
Jochen Rückert - drums
Rhani Krija - percussion
Martin Gjakonovski - bass
Nicolas Fiszman - bass
Frank Chastenier - piano
Tim Schmiedner - piano, violin
Santiago Arias - bandoneón
Izabella Pop - flute
Nadia Hashemi - clarinet
Joscha Schröder - alto Saxophone
Sebastian Studtnitzky - trumpet
Lars Koch - trumpet
Valentin Zuckmantel - trombone
Lukas Döhler - violin
Felicitas Bruckmann - viola

Parents EP
On January 22 my first EP called “Parents” released. It consists of two tracks, which shall create an atmosphere of warmth and security with floating guitars, some distant pianos, synths, voices and an experimental played drum set. The music allows the listener, even if only for a moment, to feel at ease and to recall some beautiful childhood memories.
Composition by me
Additional Instruments (drums and second guitar) by Henning Jung

Two Soldiers
“Two Soldiers” was recorded in Manchester with a 14-piece string-ensemble of the Northern Film Orchestra conducted by Melvin Tay. "The opening baseline sets a strong mood, which builds in emotion and intensity as the piece unfolds, ultimately reaching a tremendously satisfying climax" (words of NFO Manager Jack Hughes). All in all, it is an epic track that plays with pictorial impressions.

Night Reflections
"Night Reflections" is about an inner journey of thoughts. Although the piano describes an overall calmness, the percussive elements bring a kind of agitation. For me it's like going outside after work and breathing the air. All the events of the day resonate in your head, but your body already feels tired. It's a meditative minimalism piece of piano music combined with some samples from nature like water and crickets.
